Cover Reveal, Dark Romance Short Coming Out Next Week, Wondering About Romance Shorts, Canned Peaches as a Snack for Winter Months, and Started Writing My New Series

Image
Cover Reveal for “Held Captive by My Crazy, Hot Boss” The cover has been made for a few weeks, but I decided to finally show it on my author’s blog. I really liked the cover. It was made on Fiverr by a talented designer: Noeur E.(I hope I am not spelling her name wrong). I hope readers like it. My dark romance short comes out next week on February 4, 2026. It is more of light kind of dark romance. It is up for preorder. It is about a woman who gets a call from her boss to come to his house, and what she finds when she arrives is more than she bargains for.   Wondering About Romance Short Stories I decided this year to try to make a living out of writing romance stories. I write romance short stories, around 5,000 to 7,000 words, but I am wondering if it is profitable? When I ...

Why Leaving a Book Review on Amazon is Important

I know, here is another indie romance author writing about the importance of leaving book reviews, but it is true. Most of the time, readers will not touch a book without a review of it. With the amount of competition on Amazon, it is even more important to leave a book review to make an author’s book stand out. If you are one of those readers who do not want to say anything bad, do not know what to say, or  who thinks leaving a rating is not enough, then read further. How to leave a review of a book on Amazon.   Bad Reviews You are not there to tell an author that their book is good. Your review is simply your opinion. It is just one review out of dozens, and the author takes it that way, at least, the sane ones. Here is something you do not know, I used to do book reviews for a website. They were mostly romance books, and I did not always write a complimentary review. Now as a writer, I understand even more that not every story I write is going to be for everyone. Leavin...

Writing Confessions: I Write BWWM romances, and I Like It

Image
Photo By Nana V. I have a writing confession to make. If you are wondering what kind of romance novels I write, I will tell you. I write BWWM romances, and that stands for black women and white men romances. These types of romances have been around for over a decade and are quite popular. There is something hopeful about writing these types of romances because it makes me think that we have come to the point in society where we accept interracial dating and marriages. I started to read romance novels at the age of twel...

How I Price My E-books On Amazon

Image
Photo by Henning K. Tricky is the word I use when pricing my romance e-books on Amazon. If you want to get 70% percent of royalties, then price your e-books at $2.99 or higher.   The problem with that, if you are a new writer, it might be hard to get people to pay that price if they have never read your books.   Romance Short Stories If you choose 35% percent of royalties on Amazon, then you price your e-book below $2.99 which I do. I am reluctant to price my romance e-books at 70% percent royalties because my e-books are shor...

3 Things I Try to Do in My Romance Books

Image
I have started to wonder about my writing like why I am writing what I am writing? Creativity is a thing in and of itself that moves at its own will, so it is not me putting other writers on blast for what they write. I understand what suits the story may not suit everyone. It is more about me and what I am comfortable writing.   I wonder if what I put on the page is good, not just interesting writing but is good for readers, something that feeds their soul and mind. I don’t believe that a story is just a story but lives in the minds of readers after it has been read. Stories move u...

My Next Series, Decision to Edit Old Books, Paperbacks, A New Story to Preorder, and Snacks to Eat While Reading

What I am Working On- My next series My next book series is the Virtue series. It will be on the capital virtues which are chastity, patience, humility, temperance, diligence, kindness, and charity. The series will lean toward the rom-com style. The first book in the series will center on the   virtue of patience.   Decision to Edit Old Romance Books I wrote in my writing confessions post that I have self-published unedited romance books. In the post, I wrote that I did not have time to edit those books. Well, I changed my mind. It will be hard to get it done, but I am determined. I decided that it is wrong to sell e-books that I know aren’t the best and I could do something about it. To tackle all the books will take around   two-years. So, if you have been interested in my work but reading unedited books is unappealing to you, maybe you will give my books a chance once they are edited. I plan to do the editing myself.   Paperbacks   I have...

Book Throwback: Penny Jordan Romance Novel “Time Fuse”

Image
I have decided to occasionally write about a book and the author that made a lasting impression on me. I am calling this segment, book throwback. The book “Time Fuse” and the romance author who wrote it, Penny Jordan, made me love romance novels. I discovered her work while shopping in a thrift store in my teens.  Penny Jordan died on December 31, 2011, at 65 of Cancer. She penned many romance novels and women’s fiction books. I did not read all of them but the ones I did read, I enjoyed.  One of those books is “Time Fuse” published by Harlequin Romance. It is a book that shows what Penny Jordan did best, which was to create and build sexual tension between the hero and heroine. In the book “Time Fuse” she did this by creating an environment of denial. The...

My Viking Romance Series: First Book "Taken By The Viking Mob Boss"

Image
Last year, I decided to work on a romance series. The first short story in the series is titled "Taken by The Viking Mob Boss." I think it came out well, and it got some good ratings. It is about Derek Bjorn who wants to take revenge on a rival mob boss and kidnaps his daughter. The blurb is below for further information as well as where you can go to buy the short story.   https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B00LJB8TUM/allbooks?ccs_id=a255243d-3774-4903-9434-4877517ae5e9 Derek Bjorn wants revenge against Johnny Barraca, and what better way to do that than to kidnap his daughter. He had it all planned. He was going to have his men bring her to his house and seduce her, but she is not what he expected. He expected her to be scared, and she seemed that way but something else is going on that he cannot quite put his finger on.   Donna Barraca did not expect Derek’s to take her, but she knew who he was. She remembered seeing him at a restaurant years ago. Now he plan...
