Here is what I have been up to.


Thinking Deeply About My Romance Career

When I started writing, the goal was to publish romances through traditional publishers, and that is still part of the plan. However, since self-publishing is now a viable option, I decided to treat it more like a progression in my career as an author than just a way to make a couple of bucks a month. I decided to continue to write 5,000-word romance stories while also spending time on longer works, 20,000 to 25,000 words, like an upcoming series where the first book will be out in the fall, titled “ Villain Gets the Girl.”

Back From Iowa

I am back from Iowa, and all I can say is, Thank God. The motel I was in was not as I remembered. I am thinking of heading out in July, staying at a motel, but somewhere more decent, if I can afford it. If you have any suggestions on places to visit in the USA, let me know, as long as it is not in the south. I have been putting off writing my next romance story in the Virtue series, but I will be hard at work this weekend. I will be releasing it in about two weeks.

Starting to Exercise Again(Around the House)

I know that I need to exercise as I get older, but I haven’t been doing it. I would tell you why, but it is a long story. So, I've been walking around the apartment and doing basic moves taught to me when I was going to physical therapy. I am trying to figure out how to feed myself, so I don’t get dizzy, which happens when I start exercising. This time I won’t stop because of the dizziness but just eat more.

What I Have Been Snacking On?

I have been snacking on is Planters Nuts and Chocolate mix. They are good. Also, I am trying to recreate the salads I had in Iowa. I ordered all the ingredients from the grocery store, but they did not have any bags of salad. So, no salad.

Conclusion

I know I haven’t been writing for my blog like I should or said I would, but with so many things to get done, I haven’t made it a priority but will keep trying. Thanks for reading. What Not to Name Your Characters in A Romance Novel

  Okay, I have a hard time coming up with names for my romance characters, and sometimes, because I am too tired to look back at my old stories, I end up reusing names. Fun fact: I heard James Baldwin liked the name David, and more than one of his male characters was named that. Now, back to what I was saying. I have such a hard time. I looked up male and female names for my romance stories, wrote them down, immediately forgot them, and lost track of them. I have a lot of notebooks. But this post is about names for my characters that I won’t use for different reasons. Here I go:   Sebastian This name conjures up Harlequin Romances, and dark-haired, six-foot, bodies to die for Alpha males with a lot of problems. I want to name a romance hero Sebastian, but I just don’t have the writer’s juice to pull it off. I mean, this name inspires so many fantasies that I don’t think little old me can do it justice. Why Leaving a Book Review on Amazon is Important

I know, here is another indie romance author writing about the importance of leaving book reviews, but it is true. Most of the time, readers will not touch a book without a review of it. With the amount of competition on Amazon, it is even more important to leave a book review to make an author’s book stand out. If you are one of those readers who do not want to say anything bad, do not know what to say, or  who thinks leaving a rating is not enough, then read further. How to leave a review of a book on Amazon.   Bad Reviews You are not there to tell an author that their book is good. Your review is simply your opinion.
