It is Hard Trying to Write RomComs

 

I am still working on my 5,000 word romcom which is part of  my new romance story series. I have to say it is hard writing romantic comedies. My story comes across as cute not funny, but I suppose cute can be funny. With the story, I was thinking quick -witted, humor coming out of a natural situation and not forced, and it is not coming across like that. I will keep trying. I will just have to rewrite until it is funny.

 

Put Some of My E-books for Free

I put some of my e-books for free on Amazon including my new story which was published this month. I debated whether this was a good idea, but no one was reading it. I thought maybe I will get some reviews, but I don’t expect it. I will see. I have before put up some e-books for free on Amazon, and I know you can’t expect much, but hope never dies.

 

What am I Snacking On

I tried Doritos after not having them for about a year. It tastes different. I have to say I am craving some persimmons, bananas, and yogurt. I will try to get some over the weekend. I am trying to snack better. I have a sweet tooth. I brought some of Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pies the other week. This is another item I haven’t had in a while. They were fine but I need to stay away from them. That is easier said than done.

 

My Quest to Make Money from My Self -Published Short Romances

So, my goal to make a livable wage self-publishing short romances is not going well. I made some money but not enough to buy some coffee which I don’t drink.  All I made for the month of February is $2.88 cents. I hear that February is not a good month generally on Amazon for readers to find your books. Also, I did not promote my new book “Held Captive by My Crazy, Hot Boss.

I will keep writing and see if something takes hold in the Amazon algorithm.

 

Why is it Taking So Long to Finish a 5,000 Word Story?

I should have been through with my untitled new romance short story.  I started the story two to three weeks ago, and what can I say I have been busy. I have a specific time frame when I write. If I don’t write at that time, I don’t write. Also, I am stumped about something in the plot. I might have to go back and start over. I have about 2,000 words.

I know, here is another indie romance author writing about the importance of leaving book reviews, but it is true. Most of the time, readers will not touch a book without a review of it. With the amount of competition on Amazon, it is even more important to leave a book review to make an author’s book stand out.
