Why I Decided to Write to The Romance Market

As I said in my previous post, I am going to treat my self- publishing like a progression in my career as a romance author, and that includes trying to make money, which means writing to the market most of the time.

When brainstorming for ideas for my romance short stories or books, I try to think of something a little bit unique, but I realized that what I love, and most romance readers love, is familiar tropes where the author puts their own spin on it.

I do think that unique ideas have a place in romance novels, but the market tells you what romance readers want to read and gives you a roadmap to go down. I have been ignoring that roadmap following my own whims. So, I am going to write to the market a bit more.

I am not altogether comfortable with this decision, but I think it is best. Also, since it takes me a while to write longer works there will be more time lapses between self-publishing them. My 5,000-word romances, I will try to produce at a faster rate.

I haven’t decided which tropes I will focus on, but I will have a series coming out starting in the fall titled “Villain Gets The Girl”

If you want to see a particular trope from me or if you like my unique ideas and want to still see that or more of that, let me know in the comments below.

My short romance e-books can be found on Amazon. I can’t promise perfect grammar, but I try for interesting stories. If you do read them, be sure to leave a review.
